About Us

Minematters Foundation Inc. United States Collegiate Chapter (MFIUSCC) is a student-led initiative dedicated to empowering young minds, raising mental health awareness, and fostering advocacy across college campuses in Louisiana and beyond. Through collaborative efforts, we aim to inspire meaningful change and promote mental well-being among college students.

Leadership Team

Jessica Giles

Position: Public Liaison

Jessica Giles is a local from Shreveport, Louisiana who now resides in Lafayette, Louisiana. Jessica is a sophomore attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She majors in Human Development and Family Sciences. Jessica is a member of the Black Women Leadership Association and is a Student Ambassador for the University. She is also a certified student advocate for those who have been sexually assaulted or harassed to help create a safer environment on her campus. Mental health is important to Jessica because she holds a strong belief that everyone in life is entitled to go through things no matter their age, race , or gender. While at a young age, Jessica has gone through many of the challenges that life throws at you. While in this Public Liaison role, Jessica’s plan is to support her peers both on and off campus mentally, physically, and spiritually while providing a safe space.

Caliegha Hughes

Position: Public Liaison

Caliegha is a native of Shreveport, Louisiana. She currently attends Southern University and A&M College, where she is a criminal justice major on a pre-law track. As a member of the National Council of Negro Women, Caliegha has consistently demonstrated her commitment to service. Her passion for volunteering began with missionary work for her church and extended to various social clubs. Mental health became deeply personal to her through navigating her own struggles. In her role, she dedicates her time to ensuring college students have access to supportive outlets and a sense of community.

Tyhlar Holliway

Position: Public Liaison

Tyhlar Ann Holliway is a dedicated advocate for mental well-being and community empowerment, actively contributing to the Minematters Foundation’s mission. A double major in English and Political Science at Louisiana State University, Tyhlar’s passion for fostering meaningful conversations stems from her own journey of overcoming challenges. Growing up, she found strength through mentorship and faith, which led her to embrace a commitment to lifting others. Through various leadership roles and mentoring opportunities, Tyhlar works to create spaces where individuals feel seen, valued, and supported. She aligns deeply with Minematters’ mission of erasing isolation, nurturing resilience, and building a culture of hope for all.
